Description: This was actually two rides. On Memorial Day some friends and I went out to check out how to get to the Big Southern Butte, but got rained out. It was a fun ride however, riding to top of Cedar Buttte, a 7-Intermediate ride and then out around the desert through the sage brush and Junipers.
On Wednesday, I took my wife to make the accent, armed with a bit more information of where we were going. The first part of the trail is 8 miles through cattle and sage brush to the base of Big Butte. The road to the top is pretty loose and rocky which is why I call it an 8 in difficulty. If you are up to that type of riding it is a blast. The reward is an awesome, almost arial view of the Snake River plain.

Summary: These were some fun rides even for a person who doesn't enjoy the desert riding, I would highly recommend them. If you aren't for climbing there is still some beautiful scenery, especially in early spring when things are quite green. There are a lot of beautiful wildflowers.
