Description: I met some friends from Nampa, moto-crossers, who wanted to try off roading. We met just outside of Fairfield, ID on Harrison Rd. We went West from there to Cow Creek Reservoir to unload. The first 9 miles or so are easy riding, jeep trail, then single track from Hunter Creek. The next part got a bit gnarly for about 4 miles, FS #057. A narrow trail, sometimes over grown with bushes, lots of rocks, side hill and a bit of a challenging creek crossing with a log in the middle of it. At the end of that we hit another jeep trail and rode that out as one of the guys had a flat front tire. There were quite a few forks that we had to navigate. The first trail looked like #055 on the map, then we came to a trail that forked back towards the east that was posted as #007 and the trail we were on was posted as #031. From there we hit #070 which took us back to our original trail.

This is about a 4 minute video of an overview of our ride to give you a feel of the terrain. Most of this video footage was taken with my friend's  V.O.I. POV.1 video cam. It has a pretty amazing stabilizer given how rough some of this trail was as you can see by this video. It is a heavy duty unit, water proof and very durable.

Summary: Good ride, but I wouldn't advise #057 for anyone less than a Intermediate rider; lots of brush, rocks and side hill, although no climbs. There seems to be a lot of riding in this area and this was our first time in this area.  Personally, I am more drawn to rides with more elevation. However, if it were closer to Pocatello I'd definitely explore more of it. I understand that there is more of that just north of Soldier Mtn.  It was a great place to meet our friends from Nampa.
