Beartooth Highway, Yellowstone Park, Cook City
Elevations: 4462' to 10968'
Length of Ride: 334 miles
Approximate time: 8 hours
Date of Ride: July 16, 2008
I had an opportunity to get a way for a couple days to a cabin a friend of mine maintains for spiritual retreats, called
Aspen Wayside Retreat. I decide to ride my Vstrom through Yellowstone Park to enhance the experience. It was a great ride, although I wasn't prepared for how cold it was on the top of Beartooth Pass at almost 11,000 ft. The views were breath taking from the Beartooth Hwy and Yellowstone Park is always a treat to ride through. I posted the ride home under Chief Joseph Hwy.

Elevation Profile:
Summary: The Park has so much to explore, but the going is slow. Much of it has a speed limit of 35 mph, so you don't get the effect of the twisties. The Beartooth Highway is a whole experience in itself. At close to 11,000 ft you need to dress for sub 50 degree Fahrenheit weather, even in July. It has a lot of nice turns.
