Head north on Hwy 93 out of Salmon. About 4 miles north is Carmen Creek Rd on the right. Go about 5.2 miles to Freeman Creek Rd. I don't recall exactly how far we drove up Freeman Creek Rd, but it was just a couple miles.
Elevation Profile, (One way, as this is taken from a route on my software rather than an actual gps track.)
Topo Map of a logging road that we took. We actually went up higher and to the left as you can see the placement of pics 3 & 4. This is right on the Idaho/Montana border. There is a trail that goes on up the Creek where we turned off to the left. It is not for a novice, but I understand it is a beautiful view into Montana looking down on some lakes. The ride that we took wasn't too long, but beautiful and took us to the mine in the picture.
Summary: This is a very beautiful area to ride. We just had a short sample. There was a short stretch that I rode Marcella's bike up for her, just before turning off to the left away from the creek. The rest of the ride was just a logging road and very easy to navigate. As I mentioned there is another option where you can ride on up the creek by a mine site and to an overlook into Montana.
